Provide the Necessary Space for Your Parakeet

Parakeets are active birds and need enough space to fly and flutter around.

A good size cage should be at least 18 inches in length, 18 inches in width, and 24 inches in height.

It is best to choose a cage with vertical bars as parakeets love to climb.

Make sure that all of the bars are spaced no more than ½ inch apart so your bird can’t get its head stuck between them.

Put some perches inside the cage made out of natural materials like wood or rope; these perches should be different sizes so your parakeet can use both feet while climbing up and down them.

Place two separate dishes on either side of the cage for food and water since this will prevent contamination from droppings or spilled food/water.

The floor of the cage should also be lined with newspaper or paper towels which you will have to replace every three days or when needed according to how much mess there is inside the cage.

Choose Appropriate Toys for Your Pet Parakeet

Toys such as swings, ladders, bells, mirrors etc.

Additionally try avoid anything containing lead because this metal can cause poisoning if ingested by birds who happen chew on it accidentally whilst playing around their cages! Other great ideas include making homemade toys using safe objects like cardboard rolls (from toilet paper) stringed together with wooden beads – just make sure they aren’t treated with any toxins before introducing into their cages otherwise harmful fumes may be released over time once heated-up by sunlight shining through windows near where pets live indoors during colder seasons epecially !

It’s important that you feed your parrot a balanced diet consisting mainly of pellets supplemented with fresh fruits & vegetables each day; never give it fried foods which could easily upset their delicate digestive systems due lack nutritional value they offer compared against other healthier alternatives available too! You’ll also want variety amongst seeds mix types purchased from local pet stores – always check labels first ensure high quality ingredients used rather than cheaper fillers added such wheat bran husks etc.
